Your guide has extensive local knowledge, allowing you to explore the hidden gems of the Tasman Glacier.

The Ultimate Mt Cook Private Guided Experience

Ski plane scenic with 2 glacier landings (Horrace Walker/Franz Josef and Tasman Glacier) and a flight path around Aoraki Mt Cook, with West Coast views of the Fox, Franz Josef and Tasman Glaciers. Enjoy a second landing of the Tasman Glacier and a few hours exploring the ice fall with snow shoes and your guide.

The helicopter will pick you up and take you and your guide down to the lower area of the Tasman Glacier, known as White Ice, to explore the ice caves and tunnels. Approx 2-4 hours with a picnic lunch and bubbles included. You can try ice climbing as well!

The helicopter will then pick you up to take you to Plateau Hut (sitting right below Aoraki Mt Cook on the plateau glacier) for mulled wine, cheese and crackers, where you will stay until sunset. We will then pick you up via helicopter to fly you back home.

Family friendly (age restriction of 10 yrs) exploration of the lower part of the Tasman Glacier where depending on snow/ice conditions you will either explore the ice caves mid glacier or the seracs of the upper Glacier Neve. The experience will consist of a helicopter or ski plane, and in some cases both depending on landing sites being used. You will either explore the ice caves mid glacier or the seracs of the upper Glacier Neve. Once your crampons are fitted you’ll go exploring the amazing ice formations, following your guiders as they cut steps in the glacier, using skills handed down from NZ’s mountain pioneers.

From here we will fly you on a spectacular scenic flight to a mountain top where you will have a picnic provided with stunning views of Aoraki/Mt.Cook and the Southern Alps.

Your trip finishes with another spectacular scenic flight back to our Aoraki/Mt. Cook base. All gear and equipment is provided for and all fitness levels welcome with no experience needed.

The Adventurer: Tasman Glacier Heli Hike

Combine the excitement of walking on New Zealand’s biggest glacier, with the thrill of breathtaking scenic helicopter fly-bys of New Zealand’s largest mountain, Aoraki/Mt Cook.

In summer, your guide will outfit you with special ice spikes for your feet, called crampons. During the winter months, you will be able to use crampons and try snowshoeing.
