White Horse Camp Ground Clean-Up with DOC
09/06/2019
It’s been a windy pre-spring day here in Aoraki/Mount Cook.
With a strong South Easterly pushing through and rough weather conditions, flights for the day were cancelled. On the bright side, this gave us the perfect opportunity to join the Department of Conservation to clean up White Horse Camping Ground.
We spent the afternoon foraging through bushes to remove rubbish that had been thrown in there. We ended up with 3 very full rubbish bags weighing a total of 28kg. A great effort by all involved! Special thanks to Rachel, Josh, Annie, Hannah and Jeremy for getting stuck in.
We are proudly Qualmark Gold with a Sustainable Tourism Business Award; part of the Sustainable Tourism Commitment and we’ve pledged to support the Tiaki Promise. Our commitment runs deep, and we are dedicated to caring for the community and environment in which we operate. We aspire to reduce our use of paper, disposable cups and general landfill waste. We’ve recently partnered with Enviro-Mark Solutions to measure, manage, reduce and offset our carbon – more exciting news to follow shortly.
We hope to spread awareness and educate our guests on best practices when it comes to sustainability, we are very passionate about this topic as it’s important to live and enjoy, but equally as important to leave no trace.
Here’s to a planet that future generations can explore and enjoy!
