  • Ski The Tasman Package: This incredible day combines the breath-taking views of the Southern Alps and Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park with the once-in-a-lifetime experience of actually skiing on the famous Tasman Glacier, New Zealand’s longest glacier. Experience the striking alpine wilderness in the most iconic ski of the season, with ski runs that are wide and long, similar to blue runs, and perfect for a family adventure or introduction to backcountry skiing. Flight transfers, ski guides, and safety equipment and lunch on the glacier! A great adventure awaits in our winter wonderland – we can’t wait to fly you!
  • Flight Information: This experience uses a ski plane or helicopter, and offers a return trip from the Aoraki/Mt Cook Airport. Two different ski run experiences are included. We are the only company operating ski planes in the southern hemisphere and proudly celebrate over 65 years of operation in New Zealand. Our planes have retractable skis on the aircraft, enabling them to land and take off from the snow and runways here. A unique and special alpine experience. The flight path takes you over the Tasman braided rivers that feed from the Tasman Terminal Lake, past mighty Aoraki/Mt Cook, and following the Tasman Glacier, where you’ll land for your glacier skiing experience. As always, adventure activities are subject to weather conditions, if weather conditions are not suitable for the Ski Plane we will utilise our helicopters for you to continue your ultimate skiing experience.

Fly by Ski Plane or Helicopter to the top of the famous Tasman Glacier – New Zealand’s longest glacier, for the most iconic ski of the season in the magical alpine wilderness of Aoraki/Mount Cook with the regions only Net CarbonZero operator. 

Ski the Tasman operates 1 July – 31 Sept, when powder is more common and you can carve glistening tracks through sculptural terrain and striking ice features, feeling like you have the glacier all to yourself.

With the ability to be personalised to suit the needs of your group, Ski the Tasman is a great introduction to backcountry skiing with family & friends, as the ski terrain is moderate (blue runs) and the pace is relaxed. For this experience your group will need to bring your own ski clothing and equipment, ideally 100mm wide skis.

There are two guided ski runs included in the Ski The Tasman package. Mount Cook Ski Planes and Helicopters will fly the ski party to the top of the Tasman Glacier, to begin the first run, then deliver you to a different beginning site for the second run.

INFANTS: The Civil Aviation Authority stipulates that we operate our aircraft in line with the manufacturers guidelines, one of these guidelines is that there is maximum number of passengers allowed on the aircraft, adult, child or infant. Therefore when an infant is booked on our flights and sits on the lap of a caregiver we are required to leave a seat free for this infant, thus the total maximum number of passengers remains the same. This is why you will see a charge for infants.
